A bite of my puddin~
Got the recipe from The Australian's Women's Weekly.
(A little adjusted as to how i "presented" mine)
Ingredients:
6 thin slices of white bread (270g)
40g butter, softened
4 eggs
1/3 cup (75g) caster sugar
3 1/2 cups (875ml) milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup (80g) sultanas
ground nutmeg or ground cinnamon
Steps:
1. Preheat oven 160/140 degrees celcius fan-forced.
2. Butter one side of bread and cut into cubes. Arrange cubes in your baking dish, butter-side up, overlapping slightly.
3. Whisk eggs, sugar, milk and extract in bowl. Pour half custard mixture over bread; stand for 10 minutes.
4. Whisk remaining custard mixture, add sultanas; pour into dish. Sprinkle with nutmeg or cinnamon. Stand dish in larger baking dish with enough boiling water to come halfway up side of dish.
5. Bake, uncovered, about 50 minutes or until custard is set.
Personally, i just love love love cinnamon so i put a fair bit at every layer of bread, along with the sultanas. (I keep spelling Sultanas as Sulatanas =.=)
And, yup, i also just love the crusty burntish part of the bread at the top. Super yumms.
Yup real simple, if you have any old leftover bread or whatever.
And in step four, you actually just put the pan with the bread mixture in a bigger pan filled with boiled water. Sort of like a double boiler but you touch the water. Its called a barin marie or something i think?? Ha!
Yeah bringing that to school tomorrow.
Its midnight dammit. Just stopped Case 2 @ CSI.
I'm under Greg for the case.
I love love love Greg Sanders.
Nights everyone, have a "good" week!
;)
